We speak your language
Twenty people who barely know each other. A hundred who think they do. Five countries in one room — and at least three people who'd rather skip the whole thing.
Treasure Hunt Vienna works for all of them.
One format. Works for any group.
A comfortable stroll through Vienna's streets — no running, no climbing, no special fitness required. Participants aged 20 to 65 complete our routes every week.
The strategist deciphers the cipher. The creative spots the clue nobody else noticed. The quiet one suddenly knows the answer. Everyone contributes — nobody watches.
When the clock is ticking and the clue makes no sense alone, people collaborate — not because they're told to, but because they have to. That's when real connections form.
Your team will walk past Stephansdom and see something they've never noticed before. The city becomes the puzzle — and suddenly everyone is looking at it differently.
The best corporate events are the ones where people forget they're at a corporate event. Friendly competition between teams does exactly that — naturally, without any forcing.
Every event has a prepared contingency plan. Whether it's an April shower or an October chill — your event runs as planned. We've never had to cancel because of the weather.
Each route tells a different story. Pick the city that suits your team — or ask our Game Master for advice.

"A superb team building activity in Vienna — loads of fun and a great way to do a real city sightseeing at the same time. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone organising a team event in Vienna. The organisation was excellent and the team was incredibly helpful throughout."
"We chose Treasure Hunt Vienna for our teambuilding event — a treasure hunt through the heart of the city. From the very first contact, our event manager Martina impressed me with her professionalism and attention to detail. Everything was flawlessly organised. Our guide Linda then led the hunt itself from start to finish with the same care. Three groups, loads of fun, and a wonderful closing ceremony with certificates and awards. Truly fantastic — everyone loved it."
"We really loved that the Treasure Hunt covered the most important sights of Vienna city centre — a fun and practical way to experience everything and pick up a bit of history along the way. Our guide was great: easy-going and very adaptable. Every single person I spoke to said they thoroughly enjoyed the activity."
"Our team had a fantastic time with the Treasure Hunt Vienna — the organisers went above and beyond to include visits to the Christmas markets and delivered a flawless teambuilding experience for over 60 people. Truly unique, and everyone absolutely loved it!"
Hundreds of happy companies from around the world
Without a doubt. Treasure Hunt Vienna is a leisurely walk through the city, not a physical challenge. The entire route runs on flat cobblestone and paved surfaces — think a slow evening stroll rather than a hike. The total distance is 3–4 km over roughly two hours, and every team moves at whatever pace suits them. We run events with participants from 18 to 70 years old on a regular basis. If someone in your group has reduced mobility, just let us know beforehand and we'll make the necessary adjustments.
Mixed groups are where Treasure Hunt genuinely excels. The game is built around complementary strengths — it takes logical thinkers to crack the ciphers, observant people to spot the visual clues, and those with local instinct to navigate efficiently. Nobody is a passenger. We also regularly work with internationally mixed corporate teams in Vienna — multiple nationalities, multiple languages — and the format handles that effortlessly. Games can be run simultaneously in two languages if needed.
Minimum: 9 participants. Maximum: no upper limit — our largest Vienna events have exceeded 300 people. Playing groups of 5–6 work best because everyone stays actively involved rather than deferring to one person. For larger events we assign multiple Game Masters who coordinate in real time, keeping a shared leaderboard across all groups. Planning a 50-person conference activity, a 150-person company day? That's well within our usual scope — contact us and we'll design the logistics around your programme.
Vienna in the rain has its own atmosphere — and we've run hundreds of successful events in exactly that weather. Each participant can be equipped with a poncho, and the route passes enough covered arcades and sheltered spots to make even a wet afternoon perfectly manageable. We've never cancelled an event solely due to rain. If truly severe weather is forecast, you can reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start.
The full experience runs 2 to 3 hours from first briefing to final award ceremony. That includes setup and team introductions (~15 min), the game itself through Vienna's historic centre (~90–120 min), and the closing rankings. The format slots neatly into a conference day, an incentive programme or a standalone afternoon. Need a tighter window? We can shorten the game to 90 minutes without losing the experience.
The format most teams choose:
Yes — and it works surprisingly well. We can build a company quiz into the scoring system, incorporate your brand values as themes within the challenges, or print all game materials with your logo. Customisation is available as a premium add-on and requires a minimum of 3 weeks' lead time. Just flag your interest when you fill in the enquiry form and we'll take it from there — no obligation at that stage.
It depends on where your event is based and what atmosphere you're after. If your team is already in Vienna for a conference, the Vienna route is the natural choice — the richest storyline, the most iconic settings, the most thoroughly refined experience. If you're looking for something in a different Austrian city, here's the short version: Salzburg for sheer drama and heritage; Graz for a relaxed, compact city that surprises people who've never been; Linz for the combination of history and culture; Innsbruck for the moment participants look up and see the Alps framing the old town. Not sure? Tell us about your group and we'll make a recommendation with a reason behind it.
For most events, one week's notice is enough. During the busier months — April through October — popular dates can fill quickly, so earlier is always safer. Groups of 50 or more benefit from 2–3 weeks' lead time to allow for smooth logistics. If you're working to a tight deadline, call us directly rather than using the form — we handle urgent requests on a regular basis and will tell you honestly what's available.
We keep it simple — no lengthy forms, no back-and-forth for weeks.
All prices are excl. VAT and depend on group size:
No hidden fees — everything is always included in the quote and we never add extras afterwards. Send us an enquiry with your group size and preferred date and within 24 hours you'll receive a specific price proposal for your team.
Because Vienna itself becomes part of the experience. The city isn't just the setting — it's the game.
Standing in front of the Hofburg or beneath the spire of Stephansdom takes on a completely different meaning when your team is racing against two others, trying to decode a clue hidden in the architecture. People pay attention. People communicate. People forget — briefly — that they're colleagues at a company event.
That's what separates Treasure Hunt from a workshop or a dinner:
Teams come away with shared stories, a new perspective on the city, and — quietly — a better sense of who their colleagues actually are.
Your Game Master meets the group at an agreed point — often right outside your hotel or at a central square. After a short, engaging briefing (no PowerPoint, no lectures), teams of 5–8 receive their game pack: a map, a mission booklet and the first clue. From that moment, the city is your playing field.
Out in Vienna. Each clue leads to a landmark, a courtyard or an architectural detail that most people walk past without a second glance. At every stop your team decodes, discusses, photographs and competes for points. The route threads through the historic first district — past the Staatsoper, around the Burgtheater, through lanes that open onto unexpected squares.
The competition. Points accumulate for correct solutions, speed bonuses and creative photo tasks. Teams go at their own pace — fast or strategic — and the leaderboard only closes at the very end.
The finish. Everyone reconvenes, scores are announced, diplomas and prizes handed out. The conversation over dinner afterwards is where the real stories get told — and where a group of colleagues starts to feel like something more.
Absolutely. The majority of corporate groups in Vienna prefer a hotel start — your Game Master comes to you, whether that's the lobby, the conference room or the courtyard. The briefing happens on-site, teams are formed and materials distributed, and then everyone walks straight out into the city from your door.
Why it works so well for hotel-based conferences:
We can also open with a reference to your conference theme or internal goals — a small detail that makes the whole event feel deliberately crafted rather than off-the-shelf.
The route runs through Vienna's historic first district — the densest concentration of imperial architecture, hidden courtyards and centuries of layered history in Central Europe. Your team will pass landmarks including Stephansdom, the Hofburg, the Burgtheater and the Albertina — but the checkpoints are built around the details in between: the things that most people walk past every day without noticing.
The whole area is compact and walkable, which keeps the energy high and ensures the game stays immersive rather than becoming a sightseeing march.
Prefer a different Austrian city? We also run routes in Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck — each with its own story and character. Ask us and we'll help you pick.
Start. We confirm the exact meeting point with you during the booking process — typically a central Vienna square, but a hotel lobby, conference venue or office is equally fine. Most groups coming from a conference appreciate starting directly on-site, without any transfer involved.
Finish. The most popular ending is at a nearby restaurant, where the award ceremony doubles as the start of dinner. It's a natural, unhurried close to the event that keeps the energy going rather than letting it drop. We can also finish outdoors, at your hotel or wherever fits your programme. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll design around it.
We run Treasure Hunt Vienna in German and English. Mixed-language groups are common — if part of your team speaks German and part English, we prepare parallel materials and run the briefing in both. Our Game Masters are selected not just for language ability but for their capacity to read a group: adjusting pace, keeping energy up and making sure nobody feels lost.
Twenty people is one of our favourite group sizes. It divides into four teams of five — small enough that everyone has to contribute, large enough to generate real competition between groups. One Game Master runs the whole event seamlessly.
What makes it work so well at this size:
We've been running corporate treasure hunts since 2014 — long enough to have learned exactly what separates a memorable event from a forgettable one. Over that time we've worked with teams from dozens of countries, from small management offsites to multinational conferences with 300+ participants.
What clients tell us makes the difference:
Yes — we work around your programme, seven days a week including weekends and public holidays. Vienna's conference season runs year-round and so do we.
