Vienna's #1 Corporate Team Building

The Vienna team building your team will talk about for years.

Finding a team building activity in Vienna that genuinely works for a diverse group is harder than it sounds. Treasure Hunt works for everyone — regardless of age, fitness level, or how they feel about team building.

Twenty people who barely know each other. A hundred who think they do. Five countries in one room — and at least three people who'd rather skip the whole thing.

Treasure Hunt Vienna works for all of them.

Six reasons why teams choose
Treasure Hunt Vienna over anything else

One format. Works for any group.

Accessible for everyone

A comfortable stroll through Vienna's streets — no running, no climbing, no special fitness required. Participants aged 20 to 65 complete our routes every week.

A moment for every type of person

The strategist deciphers the cipher. The creative spots the clue nobody else noticed. The quiet one suddenly knows the answer. Everyone contributes — nobody watches.

Teamwork that happens on its own

When the clock is ticking and the clue makes no sense alone, people collaborate — not because they're told to, but because they have to. That's when real connections form.

Vienna reveals its other face

Your team will walk past Stephansdom and see something they've never noticed before. The city becomes the puzzle — and suddenly everyone is looking at it differently.

Energy, laughter and a little rivalry

The best corporate events are the ones where people forget they're at a corporate event. Friendly competition between teams does exactly that — naturally, without any forcing.

Rain-proof and season-proof

Every event has a prepared contingency plan. Whether it's an April shower or an October chill — your event runs as planned. We've never had to cancel because of the weather.

Choose your team building location in Austria

Each route tells a different story. Pick the city that suits your team — or ask our Game Master for advice.

How it works

Vienna's imperial streets become a live game board. Teams navigate between checkpoints, decode clues tied to the city's history and architecture, and race to outsmart the other groups. The story unfolds around them — all they have to do is pay attention and work together.

  1. Pick your city

Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg or Innsbruck — each destination has its own route, storyline and character. Tell us about your team and we'll point you in the right direction.

  2. Game day

Your Game Master hands out the materials and the race begins. Ciphers, photo missions, observation tasks — each checkpoint earned through collaboration and a bit of quick thinking.

  3. Crown the champions

Scores tallied, rankings revealed, diplomas handed out. The debrief over dinner is where the real stories come out — and where a team becomes something more than colleagues.

FAQ

We have people in the team who aren't sporty. Will they manage?

Without a doubt. Treasure Hunt Vienna is a leisurely walk through the city, not a physical challenge. The entire route runs on flat cobblestone and paved surfaces — think a slow evening stroll rather than a hike. The total distance is 3–4 km over roughly two hours, and every team moves at whatever pace suits them. We run events with participants from 18 to 70 years old on a regular basis. If someone in your group has reduced mobility, just let us know beforehand and we'll make the necessary adjustments.

Our team is very diverse — different ages, different backgrounds. Will it work?

Mixed groups are where Treasure Hunt genuinely excels. The game is built around complementary strengths — it takes logical thinkers to crack the ciphers, observant people to spot the visual clues, and those with local instinct to navigate efficiently. Nobody is a passenger. We also regularly work with internationally mixed corporate teams in Vienna — multiple nationalities, multiple languages — and the format handles that effortlessly. Games can be run simultaneously in two languages if needed.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants?

Minimum: 9 participants. Maximum: no upper limit — our largest Vienna events have exceeded 300 people. Playing groups of 5–6 work best because everyone stays actively involved rather than deferring to one person. For larger events we assign multiple Game Masters who coordinate in real time, keeping a shared leaderboard across all groups. Planning a 50-person conference activity, a 150-person company day? That's well within our usual scope — contact us and we'll design the logistics around your programme.

What if it rains?

Vienna in the rain has its own atmosphere — and we've run hundreds of successful events in exactly that weather. Each participant can be equipped with a poncho, and the route passes enough covered arcades and sheltered spots to make even a wet afternoon perfectly manageable. We've never cancelled an event solely due to rain. If truly severe weather is forecast, you can reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start.

How long does the event last?

The full experience runs 2 to 3 hours from first briefing to final award ceremony. That includes setup and team introductions (~15 min), the game itself through Vienna's historic centre (~90–120 min), and the closing rankings. The format slots neatly into a conference day, an incentive programme or a standalone afternoon. Need a tighter window? We can shorten the game to 90 minutes without losing the experience.

The format most teams choose:

  • Welcome and briefing at a central Vienna meeting point (20 min)
  • Treasure Hunt through the 1st district (1.5–2 h)
  • Award ceremony and dinner at a local restaurant (30 min+)
Can the game be tailored to our company values?

Yes — and it works surprisingly well. We can build a company quiz into the scoring system, incorporate your brand values as themes within the challenges, or print all game materials with your logo. Customisation is available as a premium add-on and requires a minimum of 3 weeks' lead time. Just flag your interest when you fill in the enquiry form and we'll take it from there — no obligation at that stage.

Which location should I choose?

It depends on where your event is based and what atmosphere you're after. If your team is already in Vienna for a conference, the Vienna route is the natural choice — the richest storyline, the most iconic settings, the most thoroughly refined experience. If you're looking for something in a different Austrian city, here's the short version: Salzburg for sheer drama and heritage; Graz for a relaxed, compact city that surprises people who've never been; Linz for the combination of history and culture; Innsbruck for the moment participants look up and see the Alps framing the old town. Not sure? Tell us about your group and we'll make a recommendation with a reason behind it.

How far in advance do I need to book?

For most events, one week's notice is enough. During the busier months — April through October — popular dates can fill quickly, so earlier is always safer. Groups of 50 or more benefit from 2–3 weeks' lead time to allow for smooth logistics. If you're working to a tight deadline, call us directly rather than using the form — we handle urgent requests on a regular basis and will tell you honestly what's available.

How does booking work?

We keep it simple — no lengthy forms, no back-and-forth for weeks.

  1. Send us the basics — group size, preferred date, city and any specific requests (hotel start, restaurant finish, language). The enquiry form takes two minutes.
  2. We come back with a proposal — within 24 hours you receive a tailored PDF offer: recommended route, schedule, pricing and any customisation options. Everything laid out clearly.
  3. Confirm the date — a simple reply is enough. No deposit required. Payment is arranged after the event. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start.
  4. Show up and enjoy — we handle the rest from A to Z.
How much does it cost?

All prices are excl. VAT and depend on group size:

  • Small group (9–25 participants): 590 EUR / group
  • Medium group (26–50 participants): 24 EUR / person
  • Large group (51+ participants): 22 EUR / person

No hidden fees — everything is always included in the quote and we never add extras afterwards. Send us an enquiry with your group size and preferred date and within 24 hours you'll receive a specific price proposal for your team.

Why is Treasure Hunt the best team building activity in Vienna?

Because Vienna itself becomes part of the experience. The city isn't just the setting — it's the game.

Standing in front of the Hofburg or beneath the spire of Stephansdom takes on a completely different meaning when your team is racing against two others, trying to decode a clue hidden in the architecture. People pay attention. People communicate. People forget — briefly — that they're colleagues at a company event.

That's what separates Treasure Hunt from a workshop or a dinner:

  • the challenge is real, so the collaboration is real
  • the city provides constant stimulation — nobody stares at their phone
  • every type of person finds their moment, regardless of seniority or personality

Teams come away with shared stories, a new perspective on the city, and — quietly — a better sense of who their colleagues actually are.

How does Treasure Hunt in Vienna work?

Your Game Master meets the group at an agreed point — often right outside your hotel or at a central square. After a short, engaging briefing (no PowerPoint, no lectures), teams of 5–8 receive their game pack: a map, a mission booklet and the first clue. From that moment, the city is your playing field.

Out in Vienna. Each clue leads to a landmark, a courtyard or an architectural detail that most people walk past without a second glance. At every stop your team decodes, discusses, photographs and competes for points. The route threads through the historic first district — past the Staatsoper, around the Burgtheater, through lanes that open onto unexpected squares.

The competition. Points accumulate for correct solutions, speed bonuses and creative photo tasks. Teams go at their own pace — fast or strategic — and the leaderboard only closes at the very end.

The finish. Everyone reconvenes, scores are announced, diplomas and prizes handed out. The conversation over dinner afterwards is where the real stories get told — and where a group of colleagues starts to feel like something more.

Can we start the team building directly from our hotel?

Absolutely. The majority of corporate groups in Vienna prefer a hotel start — your Game Master comes to you, whether that's the lobby, the conference room or the courtyard. The briefing happens on-site, teams are formed and materials distributed, and then everyone walks straight out into the city from your door.

Why it works so well for hotel-based conferences:

  • No transfers, no logistics headache — the event flows naturally from whatever came before
  • Immediate immersion — the story begins in a familiar space, making the transition into the city feel like an adventure rather than an activity
  • Flexible timing — we slot into your schedule precisely, whether that's right after lunch or following your afternoon keynote

We can also open with a reference to your conference theme or internal goals — a small detail that makes the whole event feel deliberately crafted rather than off-the-shelf.

Where does the Treasure Hunt in Vienna take place?

The route runs through Vienna's historic first district — the densest concentration of imperial architecture, hidden courtyards and centuries of layered history in Central Europe. Your team will pass landmarks including Stephansdom, the Hofburg, the Burgtheater and the Albertina — but the checkpoints are built around the details in between: the things that most people walk past every day without noticing.

The whole area is compact and walkable, which keeps the energy high and ensures the game stays immersive rather than becoming a sightseeing march.

Prefer a different Austrian city? We also run routes in Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck — each with its own story and character. Ask us and we'll help you pick.

Where does the Treasure Hunt start and finish?

Start. We confirm the exact meeting point with you during the booking process — typically a central Vienna square, but a hotel lobby, conference venue or office is equally fine. Most groups coming from a conference appreciate starting directly on-site, without any transfer involved.

Finish. The most popular ending is at a nearby restaurant, where the award ceremony doubles as the start of dinner. It's a natural, unhurried close to the event that keeps the energy going rather than letting it drop. We can also finish outdoors, at your hotel or wherever fits your programme. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll design around it.

What languages do you run the Treasure Hunt in?

We run Treasure Hunt Vienna in German and English. Mixed-language groups are common — if part of your team speaks German and part English, we prepare parallel materials and run the briefing in both. Our Game Masters are selected not just for language ability but for their capacity to read a group: adjusting pace, keeping energy up and making sure nobody feels lost.

What is the best team building activity for a group of 20 people?

Twenty people is one of our favourite group sizes. It divides into four teams of five — small enough that everyone has to contribute, large enough to generate real competition between groups. One Game Master runs the whole event seamlessly.

What makes it work so well at this size:

  • No hiding — in a team of five, there's no bystander role. Every person guesses, navigates, decides.
  • Four-way competition — the leaderboard stays contested until the very end, which keeps the whole group invested.
  • Easy customisation — adding a company quiz or branded materials is straightforward for a group this size and adds a genuinely personal dimension.
  • Clean logistics — one meeting point, one Game Master, one award ceremony. No complexity.
Why choose us?

We've been running corporate treasure hunts since 2014 — long enough to have learned exactly what separates a memorable event from a forgettable one. Over that time we've worked with teams from dozens of countries, from small management offsites to multinational conferences with 300+ participants.

What clients tell us makes the difference:

  • Experience that's visible from minute one — route knowledge, timing precision, the ability to read a group. Things that only come from running hundreds of real events, not from a training manual.
  • Game Masters who are genuinely good at their job — selected for their ability to hold a group's attention, adapt to unexpected moments and make every participant feel like the game is running perfectly even when it isn't.
  • German and English — the two languages we run the game in. Mixed-language groups handled without any extra friction.
  • Weather contingency built into every booking — if the forecast changes, your event doesn't get cancelled. We adapt, not you.
  • Genuine customisation, not a checkbox — when we add your company quiz or values to the game, it's designed to feel like it belongs there, not bolted on.
  • 5.0★ from clients including Apple, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Tesla and dozens of other organisations across Europe and beyond.
  • No upfront payment — you pay after the event. That's how confident we are in the product.
When can we book? Will you fit around our schedule?

Yes — we work around your programme, seven days a week including weekends and public holidays. Vienna's conference season runs year-round and so do we.

The most common formats:

  • Morning (9:00–12:00) — a high-energy way to open a company day before lunch. Teams arrive at the restaurant having already broken the ice and earned their meal.
  • Afternoon (13:00–17:00) — the most popular slot. Maximum daylight, peak group energy, and enough time to run the full experience without rushing.
  • Evening (from 17:00) — Vienna by night has a particular atmosphere that no afternoon slot can match. A favourite for incentive trips and pre-dinner events.

Tight conference schedule with a one-hour gap? Tell us the window and we'll design a version that fills it precisely — right down to the minute. Give us your date, city, group size and timing and we'll build the rest.
